Golden Visa Portugal — 2026

EU residency
through qualifying
investment.

ⓘ
Real estate purchase no longer qualifies. Since October 2023, direct property acquisition is no longer an eligible Golden Visa investment route. We advise exclusively on the two routes that remain open: art & cultural heritage and qualifying fund investment. For fund opportunities, see our Funds page.

What still qualifies
in 2026.

Route A
Art & Cultural Heritage
€250,000 minimum

Investment in Portuguese artistic production or cultural heritage support. Works with qualifying institutions and cultural organisations. Our advisory covers identifying suitable structures and navigating AIMA approval. Requires genuine cultural commitment — not a financial product.

Route B · Recommended
Qualifying Fund Investment
€500,000 minimum

Investment in a CMVM-regulated Portuguese fund that meets qualifying criteria — at least 60% invested in Portuguese companies, not real estate. This is the cleanest route currently available: regulated product, defined return structure, and clear Golden Visa eligibility. We select and distribute qualifying funds independently.

The programme

What Golden Visa
actually gives you.

Portuguese temporary residency — valid for 2 years, renewable. Full Schengen Area travel with a Portuguese residence permit.

7 days per year is the minimum stay requirement. You do not need to live in Portugal — only to maintain the investment and spend a minimal amount of time here.

Family reunification — spouse, dependent children and dependent parents are all eligible to apply under the same investment.

Citizenship at year 5 — after 5 years of legal residency maintained through renewals, you become eligible to apply for Portuguese citizenship and an EU passport. Language test (A2 level) and clean criminal record required.

Tax residency is separate. Golden Visa residency does not automatically make you a Portuguese tax resident. If you want to take advantage of the IFICI tax regime (formerly NHR), that is a separate application requiring you to spend more time in Portugal.

Interested in Golden Visa
via fund investment?

The fund route is the most straightforward path currently available. We advise on fund selection, manage the subscription, and coordinate the AIMA application process.
